Historical Overview
Established in 1348 CE (749 AH) by Shams al-Din Shakir bin Ghuzayl for the teaching of Shafi'i jurisprudence. While officially registered (Reg. 18) as a historic madrasa, it is locally and popularly known today as Gami' al-Baqri.
