Historical Overview
The house was built in 1731 by Hajj Ahmad ibn Yusuf al-Sayrafi and later took its present name from Abd al-Rahman Bey al-Harrawi. It contains a summer maq'ad, a men's reception hall or mandara/salamlik with a marble fountain, service spaces including a grain mill, stable and kitchens, as well as a haramlik and other residential rooms. Today it is also the home of the Arab Oud House.
