Visit Mashhad Al Tabataba, a rare Ikhshidid-era funerary complex recently relocated near the NMEC in Fustat.
Historical Overview
A highly significant 10th-century monument dating back to the Ikhshidid period (934–946 CE / 323–334 AH). Originally located at Ain al-Sira, the monument was carefully dismantled and relocated near the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in 2022 to protect it from rising groundwater.
Why Visit?
One of the very few surviving architectural monuments from the Ikhshidid dynasty in Egypt.
