Hadra Necropolis

Hadra was part of Alexandria’s eastern necropolis and was used from the Ptolemaic period into the Roman era. Its tombs belong to the wider funerary landscape of ancient Alexandria and should not be reduced to a single 1st-century CE foundation date. The cemetery is important for understanding the development of Alexandrian burial architecture and the interaction of Greek and Egyptian funerary traditions.
