West Aswan

Historical Overview
The Monastery of Anba Hatre, often called the Monastery of St Simeon, is a major medieval Coptic monastic complex on Aswan’s west bank. Its surviving architecture developed especially in the later first and early second millennium CE. The previous text was internally impossible in saying that a seventh-century monastery was built under Justinian, who ruled in the sixth century, and it also confused Anba Hatre with Simeon the Stylite.
