Historical Overview
The museum consists of two Ottoman-era houses joined together. The first was built in 1545, while the second dates to 1631 and became known as Bayt al-Kritliyya. Gayer-Anderson began living in the houses in 1935, furnishing them and displaying his collection.

This is one of Cairo's strongest historic-house experiences because the architecture, interiors and collections are presented together, directly beside Ibn Tulun Mosque.
