A graceful nineteenth-century religious complex on Al-Muizz Street, distinguished by an elegant Ottoman-style pencil minaret, a marble sabil and an unusual prayer niche carved from a single block of marble.
Historical Overview
The complex combines a mosque with a public water fountain, or sabil, and a kuttab school. Its main stone façade faces Al-Muizz Street and is crowned by a decorated wooden overhang. Turkish foundation inscriptions record the patron and construction date. The mosque's Ottoman-style minaret has a slender cylindrical form ending in a pointed “pencil” profile. The attached sabil has a curved marble façade with four copper-grilled windows. One of the interior's most unusual elements is the mihrab, carved with its hood from a single piece of marble.

This site helps visitors see that Al-Muizz did not stop developing after the medieval Mamluk period. It demonstrates how nineteenth-century architecture continued to enrich the historic street.
