Coptic Church Remains at Abu Rawash

The Coptic church remains at Abu Rawash document a later chapter in the long history of an area better known for ancient Egyptian archaeology. Archaeological evidence of Christian occupation demonstrates that parts of the landscape continued to be used and reinterpreted centuries after the pharaonic period. The remains are therefore valuable for understanding the site as a multi-period cultural landscape rather than a single-era monument. They are not currently established as a regular stand-alone tourist attraction with dependable opening hours, visitor services or ticketing.
