Mortuary Temple of Thutmose III at Deir el-Bahari
The fragmentary Eighteenth Dynasty mortuary temple of Thutmose III at Deir el-Bahari, preserved mainly through archaeological remains.
Luxor West Bank
Historical Overview
Thutmose III built a mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari between the complexes of Mentuhotep II and Hatshepsut. Unlike the neighboring temple of Hatshepsut, it does not survive as a complete terraced monument. Most of the structure was destroyed, and modern understanding comes from foundations, architectural blocks, relief fragments, and archaeological excavation. The temple was connected with the royal cult and the worship of Amun within the sacred landscape of Thebes. It is therefore primarily an archaeological and research site rather than a fully preserved visitor monument. Visitor planning: Research/archaeological remains.
