Historical Overview
KV9 in the Valley of the Kings was begun for Ramesses V of the Twentieth Dynasty and was later enlarged and appropriated for Ramesses VI. Its long decorated corridors preserve major late New Kingdom funerary compositions. The monument is therefore best understood as a two-reign royal tomb rather than a single construction event for both kings.
