Abbas Pasha Palace Ruins
Discover Abbas Pasha Palace Ruins, a cultural, archaeological or religious heritage record within South Sinai's long history.
Historical Overview
The ruins of Abbas Pasha Palace stand high in the Saint Catherine mountain region and are associated with Abbas I of Egypt, who ordered a mountain residence in the nineteenth century in search of a healthier climate. The palace was never completed after his death, leaving stone ruins in a dramatic high-altitude setting. Reaching the site requires mountain travel rather than a normal road-based attraction visit, and the route should be treated as a guided hiking objective subject to weather, local access and security conditions.
Why Visit?
The ruins combine nineteenth-century royal history with one of the most dramatic high-mountain landscapes in South Sinai.
