Nawamis

The Nawamis are prehistoric stone burial structures found across parts of South Sinai. They are typically circular or beehive-like dry-stone tombs built in the desert landscape and represent some of the region’s oldest surviving human-made structures. Their remote locations make them fundamentally different from managed archaeological parks: reaching individual clusters usually requires desert transport, a knowledgeable local guide and confirmation that the route is currently accessible. A locally knowledgeable guide is especially useful for identifying the correct cluster and placing the structures in their prehistoric context.
