Tiran Island
Experience Tiran Island, a South Sinai visitor place or activity best combined with other stops in the same local zone.
Historical Overview
Tiran Island lies at the entrance to the Gulf of Aqaba opposite the Sharm El-Sheikh coast. For most visitors, the name is associated less with landing on the island than with boat excursions to the surrounding Straits of Tiran, where reefs such as Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon are major snorkeling and diving destinations. Marine access depends on licensed boat operators, weather, security and current navigation rules. Because landing conditions and permissions can differ from ordinary reef excursions, TrueCost treats the island itself as limited-access rather than a guaranteed walk-on attraction.
Why Visit?
The Tiran area is one of Sharm El-Sheikh’s major marine-excursion zones, especially for snorkeling and diving around the Straits of Tiran reefs.
